The weekend did not start exactly the way the Dawson Blues men’s team wanted it to, with a 5-1 loss to Champlain Lennoxville. It did; however, end with their first win of the season with a score of 4-1 against Laflèche. Kevin Lisio scored the game-winning goal early in the third period to make them 1-7 on the year.
The Dawson Blues women’s team continues to find success as they won their fourth straight game to start the season. This weekend’s win came against André-Laurendeau by a score of 4-1.
The women’s soccer team continues to be unable to get into the win column, as they dropped both games this weekend. Their first loss was against Champlain Saint-Lambert with a score of 3-1 and their second was a 4-0 drumming from Ahuntsic. Head coach, Alex Gasparello, had this to say after their game against Champlain Saint-Lambert: “After halftime, we made some typical mistakes for us this year and it put the game away.”
The men’s team made up for the disappointing start to the doubleheader Friday night with an exciting 3-2 win over Montmorency. The win keeps them in contention for the final few playoff spots.
The Dawson Blues lacrosse team won their first game of the year against Champlain Lennoxville by a score of 9-8. Chris Angelopoulos was the big scorer, as he scored six of the nine Blues’ goals.
The Dawson Blues rugby teams played a doubleheader Sunday against John Abbott College and both had very close finishes. The men tied 13-13, while the women won 10-5. The win puts them at the top of the standings.
The division 2 women’s volleyball team had a tournament at Cégep regional de Lanaudière à Terrebonne. The team won three of the five games that they played Sunday.
The basketball season kicks off with the Fall Classic here at Dawson. The tournament will last from Thursday to Sunday, with Sunday being the championship game. The only other home games this weekend will be men and women’s hockey games Saturday night.
